International Translation Day 2018

September 30th is International Translation Day, a day celebrated in Quebec through events to be hosted throughout the week.

This year’s theme Translation and Interpreting: Connecting Worlds

Visit this page to learn where and when you can take part in different happy hours events organised to that effect throughout the week.

About the theme

These two professions are often confused or wrongly used by people; more often than not, interpreters are wrongly identified as translators.  This mistake should not be made; interpreters work in oral communication and translators, with written communication.

The confusion around these two saddens me. How many times are these two professions thought interchangeable? More often than people confused a dentist and a denturist I bet.
